"Unifying spaces, redefining homes - the Open Plan approach in renovating a Donmuang townhouse."
Don Mueang Penthouse is an interior design project for the renovation of a 200 square meter penthouse located in the Don Mueang area for a family of 4 members. Because the owner of the house just had one more young member in the family. Therefore, there is a need to renovate this penthouse to have a larger living space with complete functions and add a private room for the eldest daughter and the youngest daughter to be used in the future.
This penthouse consists of 1 master bedroom, 1 bedroom for both daughters and a common area that is used as a living area, kitchen and dining area. The design is based on an “open plan” concept that focuses on the use of loose furniture. In order to connect the home space together without clear boundaries make the space look wider, airy and comfortable. It also allows all members of the family to interact and be able to do activities together.
Inside the 2 bedrooms, the designer mainly focuses on the use of built-in furniture as it is an area that has a fixed use and is clearly separated. In the Master Bedroom, the mood and tone design gives a feeling of comfort and warmth along with adding the texture of synthetic stone materials to the plan on the head of the bed. Emphasis on the use of indirect light to make it suitable for relaxation. There is a see-through open bathroom and a large walk-in closet to provide the same resort vacation as the owner desires.
The bedroom of both daughters, the designer uses the "Human Scale" proportion of the child as the main design key. Make the area in the daughter's bedroom have a mezzanine level design to be used as a sleeping and living area. As for the interior colors, the design team chose to mainly use white and pastel tones to add the character of a child to the room and also add a sense of spaciousness.
